Hi,

I’ve seen the Dignitet steel cable several times in the new catalog and online at Ikea: It looks like this, I believe it’s called the Dignitet bracket, which is screwed into the ceiling, and then a steel cable is attached to it. A long curtain hangs on this steel cable, so you can use it to separate a corner in a room or even divide a whole space. Does anyone have experience with this? Does it really work, or is it unstable because of the thin cable? Could it possibly loosen the ceiling anchor easily? I think it’s a great idea in principle, but I wonder if it might cause more trouble than it’s worth.

Is it suitable for spanning longer distances over 2m (6.5 feet), or should it only be used for very short runs?

That’s exactly what it’s designed for...

Of course, the Dignitet steel cable works, but better check the load capacity to make sure the cable doesn’t pull out of the anchor point. I’m referring to the hex socket screws (used to attach the Dignitet steel cable). I’m not familiar with those.
