Good morning,

we have a narrow strip next to the neighboring property that has so far only been covered with weed control fabric and weighed down with a few stones. The length is approximately 14.5 m (47.6 ft), and the width is about 55 cm (22 inches).
Our house is on the right in the picture.
We are looking for great ideas on how to nicely design this area.
I would appreciate any wonderful suggestions.

Best regards,
Jochen

I would equip both the front and back with a wooden trellis and plant rambling roses or similar climbing plants on it. In the center, a arch with a bench underneath where you can chat with your neighbor.

Due to the length, perhaps part of it could also be constructed as a dry stone wall to provide shelter for reptiles.

Do you only have access to the front door from there? Do the neighbors as well? Then I would suggest something half-height, not fully opaque.
Katja’s bench is nice. A backless one for both parties would work well; then you can also place the shopping basket on it when you come home.

Ah, you understand me.

Thank you all for your responses. Fortunately, we have a good relationship with our neighbors and definitely do not want to build a "wall."
The idea of a bench is already a great one.

Shrubs in columnar form or those that do not spread widely and can be easily maintained, espalier fruit trees, climbing plants on a trellis.
