Good evening everyone,

After visiting three home improvement stores for advice and still feeling unsure (since I received three different recommendations), I’m hoping to get some tips here.

We have removed tiles from the floor. What remains is the tile adhesive (see photos). Using a 7cm (3-inch) wide chisel hasn’t been very effective because the adhesive is extremely stubborn and doesn’t come off easily. The adhesive is about 3–4mm (0.1–0.15 inch) thick and covers a spacious area of 70m² (750 sq ft). Afterwards, 60m² (645 sq ft) of parquet flooring and 8m² (86 sq ft) of tiles will be installed here.

What would you recommend? Many thanks in advance!

Boels is one of the most expensive and most aggressive rental companies we deal with. I avoid them whenever possible, but I am fortunate to have two competitors nearby as well as hardware stores that also offer a lot of rental equipment.

Good morning everyone, this might be interesting for some of you. I removed the adhesive using an angle grinder and a sanding cup. It was a bit of work, but it worked well and only cost a fraction of the rental fee.

If you don’t absolutely need those few millimeters, I would level the surface and then install the new tiles or parquet flooring on top. This saves time, money, stress, and is better for your health.
