Hello everyone!
We are planning to build a house next year and have no idea how to approach this project.
We already have a plot of land and an idea of what the house should look like, but that’s about it.
Since we are not skilled tradespeople, we will need to have the house professionally built. For painting, tiling, and similar tasks, we want to help out ourselves or know people who can do this.
Now the question is, who should we build with? A prefabricated home company or an architect and a construction company?
Which option is more cost-effective?
There are so many providers, but can we trust that they deliver what they promise?
What should we watch out for?
Do you have any tips for us?
What is the approximate cost of a house with about 150–160 m² (1600–1700 sq ft) of living space including a basement?
Thank you very much in advance!
...and please don’t be annoyed by my many questions (which might continue in the future)...
To excuse ourselves: We have never dealt with house building before and have no idea how it all works.

First of all, welcome to the forum.
Since you are complete beginners, it is recommended to read the guides on the left under the section "Advice," where you will also find tips on how to find the right building partner for you.
Above all, make sure you don’t exceed your budget; for this, first consult an independent financer. Only when you know your financial situation well are you able to decide how much money you can and want to invest. Then read, have discussions with suppliers, and if necessary, ask here again.
Best regards

1. Set a budget / define a future operating cost limit / consider maintenance expenses
2. Define the building standard (energy efficiency, technology, features, etc.)
= as a result, you will get the square meters
now it is important to establish a room layout.
3. Find who can carry out the project most cost-effectively while ensuring maximum security for the investment.
