Hello, we received our front door yesterday and unfortunately noticed that the top frame is only about 5mm (0.2 inches) visible. The side frame is about 3cm (1.2 inches). The overall appearance just doesn’t look right. The door supplier took the measurements and does not consider this a defect. Are there any guidelines for this?
I have attached a photo.
What are your thoughts?

All the worse if it was already finished beforehand.

It really looks bad…. unfortunately, I can’t help you.

Are front doors custom-made at all? In our case, there were three different widths of side panels that could be added on the left and/or right, as well as three door heights. While you could combine these options in various ways, it wasn’t possible to get a perfect fit to the exact centimeter (inch). Perhaps the door supplier simply chose the best possible option—but not a precisely custom-fit solution.

M.W. today the profiles are custom-made to size, just like window profiles. The person simply didn’t think it through or lacked a sense of aesthetics.

Given the available width, a door with two sidelights simply does not fit. Not pointing this out during a consultation, in my opinion, shows incompetence or at least a lack of expertise… I don’t think there’s anything to gain from it.
