Hello everyone, I have a Hemnes wooden dresser from IKEA that has unfortunately developed several scratches and a few small dents over the past few months. Since the surface of Hemnes furniture is usually lacquered or waxed, I’m wondering what the best way is to repair these damages without the touch-ups being clearly visible or damaging the finish. Are there any proven methods or products suitable for small to medium scratches and dents on the wood of this series? Also, does anyone have tips on preparing the areas before repair to achieve the most professional result possible?

To match the wood filler, it is recommended to mix the right color using pigments or wood stain. Alternatively, there are ready-made wood putty colors available at hardware stores, although these do not always match the Hemnes shade exactly. One approach would be:
- Apply filler in a light base color
- After drying, gently sand with fine sandpaper
- While still slightly damp, adjust the color spot-wise using a sponge or brush with wood stain or glaze
- Finally, apply a light polish or wax
It is important to work in small steps and allow drying in between.

Good luck with the repair! One last tip from me: it’s better to apply several thin layers of filler and stain rather than one thick one. This way, the result looks much more natural and less noticeable. I believe that with a bit of patience, you can achieve a great finish!
