Hello everyone, I am looking for effective methods to protect my Ikea Pax wardrobe from scratches and damage. I am especially interested in which materials or protective solutions have proven to be effective in daily use to preserve the surface over the long term. My wardrobe is located in a high-traffic area, so it would also be helpful to know if there are any specific care instructions to follow to prevent wear. Thank you very much for your tips and experiences!

when putting away clothes, pad the edges of metal hangers or hooks with pieces of fabric.

That’s a great tip, I hadn’t thought of that before, even though I often use metal hangers. I have already noticed some slight wear and tear because of it. I will definitely try that out, thanks for the advice!

It should be added that Pax cabinet modules with surfaces made of melamine-coated particleboard are particularly prone to scratches. Therefore, the following protective measures are effective:

- Avoiding contact with sharp-edged objects on the surface
- Using transparent edge protection profiles in especially exposed areas
- Using cabinet interior fittings such as fabric boxes instead of loose items

Mechanical stress should be minimized to reduce susceptibility to micro-scratches.

At high-wear areas such as door edges or inner surfaces, you can apply self-adhesive protective films.

Thank you very much for the detailed report! Are there any specific brands or materials for protective films that you would particularly recommend? I want to avoid films that become sticky or difficult to remove after a short time. So something that is easy to work with and leaves no residue.
