Hello everyone,

I recently bought an IKEA Hemnes wardrobe and want to protect it long-term from unsightly water stains and moisture. Since the furniture is made of lacquered wood, I am especially concerned about damp spots caused by tilted windows or steam from the kitchen.

How can I best protect the Hemnes from these effects without damaging its appearance or surface? Are there any specific materials or care methods that have proven effective?

I am particularly interested in tips that work both preventively and potentially to repair minor moisture damage.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I would also recommend attaching small felt pads with a water-resistant coating under the feet of the cabinet.

Good tip, thanks for adding that! Especially for wooden furniture standing on hardwood floors or tiles, felt pads help prevent scratches and reduce direct contact with potentially wet or damp floors.

Another often overlooked point: If the back of the cabinet is made of thin particleboard, it can swell in high humidity. In this case, you might consider applying a thin protective layer, such as a self-adhesive moisture barrier film on the inside.

A dehumidifier can sometimes work wonders here!

Yes, that supports the overall protection strategy in damp rooms very effectively.

If you want, I can provide some product recommendations and tips for use.
