Hello everyone, I am currently facing the problem of securely and neatly attaching baseboards to my new Ikea Metod kitchen on a floor with underfloor heating. The challenge is that the baseboards cannot be fixed directly to the floor using traditional nails or screws, as this might damage the heating mats or pipes underneath. Therefore, I am looking for a solution that is both practical from a craftsmanship perspective and allows for a removable and visually appealing baseboard. Does anyone have experience or proven methods for fixing Metod baseboards under these conditions? Tips on suitable adhesives, clips, or mounting systems that work without damaging the underfloor heating would be especially appreciated.

Can someone briefly explain the best way to carry out leak detection on your own?

For non-professionals, thermal imaging cameras are suitable, as they are relatively easy to use and can visually reveal where the heating pipes run. These devices are often available for rent at tool rental centers. Additionally, there are special pipe locators for underfloor heating systems based on electromagnetic principles that can show pipe routes. However, their visibility is limited by wall and floor materials. Alternatively, contacting the heating installer is advisable since they have the exact plans and can reduce risks.

My tip: use a thermal imaging camera when the room temperature is low and the heating is turned on; this way, the pipes will appear as warmer areas.

Great that this topic is being discussed in such detail here! I installed my Ikea Metod baseboards exactly the same way, using wall clips and additionally a temperature-resistant mounting adhesive. It works perfectly, looks neat, and can also be removed later. Don’t worry about the technique – keep your hands off the floor fixing! Good luck with your project, it will definitely go great!
