Hello everyone, I am planning to assemble several Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets with adjustable shelves and want to make sure I do it in the best and most efficient way possible. My main question is: What is the best method to assemble the Metod cabinets with adjustable shelves to ensure stable construction and maximum flexibility for use? Specifically, I am interested in the recommended order for inserting the shelves, any tips for correctly fitting the shelf supports, and what to watch out for during assembly to avoid unnecessary rework. Additionally, advice on handling the side panels and back panels would be helpful, as I have read that alignment is particularly important with Metod cabinets. Thanks in advance for your support and shared experience!

For me, it’s not only the steps in building that matter, but also how practically the finished product can be adjusted and how durable it stays in everyday use.

That sums it up well. From my own experience, if you want to reposition adjustable shelves regularly, it’s important to handle the support brackets carefully so they don’t wear out or become loose too quickly. That happened to me once—the shelf tilted, and it was really frustrating. So it’s better to measure carefully from the start and only rearrange when necessary.

However, if you assemble everything as described here, you end up feeling really good about the result. I wish I had been more patient myself, so I would recommend everyone take their time and not rush. The cabinets are a great system when treated and installed properly.
