Hello everyone,

I am currently facing the challenge of aligning my Ikea Metod base cabinets with drawers and doors to truly millimeter-precision. The problem is that during standard installation, small gaps or slight misalignments often occur, which disrupt the overall appearance and are not acceptable to me anywhere, as I place great value on precision and aesthetics.

I have already used the recommended screws for fine adjustment of the doors and drawers, but I have not been able to align the fronts perfectly parallel and without visible unevenness. Especially with multiple cabinets next to each other, small errors quickly add up to noticeable deviations.

What methods or tools do you use to achieve truly millimeter-accurate adjustment of Ikea Metod drawers and doors? Are there any tricks during installation or specific sequences that help?

I would greatly appreciate detailed answers with practical tips on which steps I should follow to achieve flawless front alignment. Thanks in advance!

Thank you very much for the detailed answers and the valuable tips!

@kaubi: My cabinets are placed on a slightly uneven screed floor, and I have leveled them a bit using small washers under the feet. I suspect I still need to check more carefully whether all the corners are really 90°; I will verify this again with a protractor.

@nojaus: I will definitely follow your recommendation to leave the fronts slightly loose before tightening the screws. That should certainly help with fine adjustments.

@usbla: Thanks also for the tip about the guide line; I will use a laser distance meter for that, which should help me assess the lines more accurately.

Maybe a quick question for the group: Do you use any special tools or aids to align drawer fronts that Ikea doesn’t provide? With some of my drawers, I get the impression that the clip system alone isn’t quite sufficient to compensate for small misalignments.

Any advice on how often one should recommend readjusting kitchen hardware would also be appreciated, as my kitchen is heavily used and things might shift over time.

Looking forward to further insights!
