Hello everyone, I am currently planning the setup of a small bedroom and have decided to go with the IKEA Pax wardrobe system because it seems very flexible. However, the available space is extremely limited, so I am wondering: What is the most efficient way to use an IKEA Pax wardrobe in a tight space? I am especially interested in how to best organize the storage to maximize capacity without making the room feel cluttered or impractical. Are there any clever tips for optimizing the interior layout and possibly making good use of the doors? I look forward to your experiences and advice!

Are there any clever tricks to optimize the interior layout and maybe also make good use of the doors? To fully utilize the storage space from the door side, take a look at door hooks offered by IKEA or third-party interior organizers. These allow you to store small items that would otherwise take up a lot of space inside. Such solutions are especially efficient in tight spaces.
Thanks to everyone who has already provided detailed answers. I will plan to put the file folders in the upper, less-used compartments and probably use smaller drawers or baskets for shoes. I especially like the idea of sliding doors since I want to keep the clear passage space at no more than 50cm (20 inches).
Flexibility in the interior layout is also very important to me because my storage needs will change over time. That’s why I prefer modular shelves that can be easily repositioned. By the way, I live in a loft apartment, so the furnishings need to look light despite the limited space. Maybe you have some tips on how to make the wardrobe interior feel less bulky in a small room?

the furniture should appear light despite the smaller floor areaYou can achieve a light visual effect by following these points:
- Choose light colors or white fronts for the Pax system
- Incorporate glass doors or partially open elements to visually reduce the volume
- Keep the interior design minimalist, meaning no cluttered appearance inside
- Install mirrors on the inside of doors or on the outside to visually expand the space
These measures help the wardrobe appear less dominant and keep the room feeling airy.
