Hello everyone, I am planning to place several Billy shelves in a recess, but I have noticed that they often do not align properly there. My recess is slightly uneven, causing the shelves to wobble or not sit flush against the wall. Are there any proven methods to better align Billy shelves—especially in such recesses? I am particularly interested in tips for compensating for unevenness and measures that make the shelves more stable without affecting their appearance. I look forward to your experiences and suggestions!

Place wedges under the feet or behind the shelves. Always use a spirit level when installing. Mounting brackets help to stabilize. Done.

Exactly, and I’d add: if you make the shims out of wood, you can paint them the same color as the shelf so they become invisible. This way, you don’t have to compromise on appearance and get a consistent look overall – which I always find important so the niche doesn’t look like a makeshift solution. 🙂
