Hi everyone,
I’m posting my topic in this category in the hope that it roughly fits here.
We have come across a semi-detached house in GG that is almost completed, meaning the interior work is still being finished and then we could get the keys. The other half has already been sold and the new owners will be moving in soon. This half is available because the previous buyer’s financing fell through (according to the real estate agent).
We like the house; the size and layout are perfect.
My questions: Normally, I would rely on a building inspector (for example, from a homeowners’ protection association) during the construction phase. But here, everything is almost finished already. Would an inspector still be useful? I thought maybe for the final inspection to properly assess any defects.
I would also have the purchase contract reviewed. The developer is a small local company with no other information available. Should I ask for a list of the trades involved?
Do you have any other ideas about what information I should gather?
Thanks in advance and have a great Sunday,
Andrea

I would definitely recommend going through everything with an expert; they can also check the finished house to confirm that everything is in order. Make sure the expert is reputable (for example, listed with the Chamber of Commerce or sworn in). Have you already met the neighbors?
