I could use your opinions.
We are currently renovating a house built in 1986 and want to retrofit some windows with roller shutters (for burglary protection and light blocking). However, there is about 10cm (4 inches) of insulation visible around the windows on the outside. So, if we went with external roller shutters, they would run along the façade, creating about 10cm (4 inches) of space/air between the shutter and the window glass, right?
We are not keen on integrated roller shutters because they would reduce the window opening from the top, allowing less light in. Since the window openings are not very large anyway, we want to avoid that.
What would you recommend?
