"the" my grandmother and grandfather.
The house is 50% owned by my mother, and my uncle wants/needs to sell it because of the ongoing costs. In that case, I would wait to start the renovation until you are registered in the land registry. A renovated or partially renovated house is suddenly worth much more than one that is not renovated...

Bieber081519 May 2015 19:25Claudia1985, several questions come to mind:
- Who owns which parts of the house? (50% mother, 50% uncle)?
- Is there currently an inheritance process ongoing, or is that in the past and already settled?
- Is the house occupied? If so, by whom?
- Why are you taking care of the radiators?
- What is the condition of the house?
- What condition is it supposed to be brought to?
- What is the budget? Who is going to pay for it?
- How is the house intended to be used in the future?
- ...
Of course, you don’t have to answer these here. It just seems to me that you are not entirely clear about the situation yourself. If that is the case, then taking a short pause to organize your thoughts (and finances) might save you from some trouble. You should try to keep emotions out of it.

Claudia198519 May 2015 22:47The house is owned 50/50. My mother is transferring her share of the house to us, and we are buying out my uncle. My grandmother has a lifelong usufruct right (she is 88) but currently lives with my uncle.
We are the ones paying for it.
The house has been empty for about 7-8 years.
In the future, the house will be occupied by us (my husband and children).
The roof is new, it is newly connected to the sewer system, the courtyard has new paving, and the electrical system is new as well.
I am concerned about the radiators because I cannot estimate what type would be suitable for such an old house, especially considering the clay walls.
There are radiators on the ground floor.
