Hello,

can you recommend an air source heat pump that would be suitable for our house?
What information is needed to properly size the heat pump?
Which products are considered quite good? I have only found a Stiftung Warentest review from 2007 and nothing else.

We are building a house with 140 m² (ground floor + attic) KfW 70 standard with 0.19 wall insulation (R-value).
In addition, there is a separate apartment with 40 m² (basement). The whole house has underfloor heating.

What kind of heat pump do we need here? I would be very grateful for any help as I cannot find much information online.

For the house, we were recommended an air source heat pump with 10.6 kW output, including a 200 L (53 gallons) heating buffer tank and a 390 L (103 gallons) domestic hot water buffer tank.

Alternatively, the Viessmann Vitocal 222-S was offered, but I am not very convinced about this model.

I find the Vitocal 300-A better, as it has a higher seasonal performance factor and can also provide cooling. Would 9 kW be sufficient for us?

Which other heat pumps would you recommend? For example, the Vaillant VWL 102/2.

We are probably going to install separate ventilation with a Vaillant recoVAIR 275.

Thank you in advance for your opinions….

Hello,
take a look at the Mitsubishi Zubadan 10kW heat pump. The Zubadan is currently one of the best air-to-water heat pumps; it operates at 100% capacity even at -15°C (5°F) and can work down to -25°C (-13°F). Additionally, pairing it with a solar system using vacuum tubes is a good option.
For example, for the past 4 weeks, only the solar system has been running, except for the last 2 days when the heat pump helped maintain the temperature of the combined storage tank, despite being in an older building without insulation.
How many people live in the house?
What is the heating load of the house?
How large is the garden (yard) for placing the outdoor unit?
Is there a combined storage tank (800 - 1000 liters (210 - 265 gallons)) with multiple connections available for possible future use of other heat carriers?
Only consider heat pumps with refrigerant R410.
Is it desirable to control heating system parameters via iPad, iPhone, or computer?

Good luck with your choice...

No, because the basic assessment data must be available for this. => Actual demand (capacity, energy) for heating, hot water, and ventilation. Anyone who still gives recommendations without this information is simply unreliable. So, misleading advertising should be dismissed at first glance.

Your MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) planner should be able to assist you with this. If there isn't one, an air source heat pump can easily become a money pit.
