Hello everyone,

We are just about to receive the handover of our house and now have the following problem:

There is a gray expansion joint on the white wall. When I first entered the rooms, I thought the painters were not finished yet.

Now we are told that we have to accept this expensive and complex measure because it is supposedly for our benefit, and the manufacturer only produces this joint tape in gray. The site manager told me that this is a very new product (in use for about 2 years) – in a house built last year by the same builder, this tape was not yet used. Our building inspector also classified the joint tape as a defect.

Can someone please clarify this for me – solutions like this surely exist in white? Why did the builder use this tape?
(It is also not allowed to paint over it!)

What should our next steps be?

Many thanks,
