I have been a quiet reader here for a long time, but now things are becoming more concrete for me and... well, the more you think about it, the more questions arise.
When building a house, it is often recommended to have your own building savings contract in addition to the contractor’s, as a "neutral" party.
Now the question is, what should the scope of this service be? I’m looking for a reasonable balance.
- Number of site visits?
- Key stages in the construction progress?
- Other services, such as comparing or obtaining quotes?
- Technical advice on various (non-expert) questions?
- What does the building savings contract cover and what does it not cover?
Regarding the general comparison of quotes, one should have a basic idea of the direction they want to go—whether it’s heating technology, masonry, windows, and so on. But of course, different construction companies offer various brands and products. How can this even be estimated or reasonably compared?
It’s clear that every company builds somewhat differently, but it’s the details that make the difference—in price and quality alike.
Thanks to all.
Best regards,
Robert
