Hello everyone,

Our plot borders two streets and is therefore also adjacent to an intersection. There is a sidewalk between the boundary and the street, but I assume I am hardly allowed to install 2-meter (6.5-foot) high hedges or privacy/noise protection fences there, right? Are there any regulations regarding this?

Of course. For example, the development plan may include a clause like:
"Visibility triangles at intersections must be kept clear."

Unfortunately, we don’t have a development plan.... What does it look like in that case?

Then it may be specified in the state building code, in neighborhood regulations, or the building authority can provide information 🙂

As a general rule, you can assume that within the visibility triangle, construction is allowed up to a maximum height of 80cm to 100cm (31 to 39 inches).

So, my best option is to talk to the local authority to find out how far I need to keep the visibility triangle clear, right?
