ᐅ Freestanding bathroom wall: Can the wall support a double sink?

Hello everyone,

I need a quick assessment.

We want to build a freestanding wall in our bathroom (about 2m x 2.2m [6.6 ft x 7.2 ft]). I planned to build it with aerated concrete blocks, 17.5cm (7 inches) thick, directly on the raw floor (the screed will be installed afterwards). The wall will have no additional support or connection to other masonry.

Will the wall hold if we later mount a double washbasin on it?

Should I perhaps build it 24cm (9.5 inches) thick instead?

What is your opinion?

Thanks for any help.

That would certainly be the best!
But somehow that doesn't quite fit.

I think I will screw a base profile to the floor and embed it in the masonry.

Does anyone possibly know an alternative to the Würth profiles?

There are many solutions for this. You could simply screw two or more stronger L-profiles into the floor in front of the screed, which would be fixed with heavy-duty anchors. What is the ceiling made of? Concrete with steel or wood? There are also professional systems like the GIS system by Geberit, but I expect that won’t be cheap.

I interpret the intended structure as a freestanding one above.

I think it’s about the ceiling under the bathroom.

@Caspar2020 ... 11ant suggests that the wall should not touch the ceiling but should simply end at around 2m or 2.2m (6.6 ft or 7.2 ft). This needs to be taken into account during construction, especially since washbasins will be mounted on the wall.

Correct! A ceiling connection is not simply possible in this area. The entire space is located in the attic, and the rooms are open up to the ridge (approximately 4.5m (15 feet) to the ridge beam).
