ᐅ Flat canopy hood – door hinge does not fit

We have a flat canopy hood, and we wanted to install it inside the overhead cabinet above the range hood. Unfortunately, the top part of the hood is quite deep and almost as wide as the cabinet, so the lower door hinge doesn’t fit. How would you solve this? Simply drill a new recess with a special bit?

What was the hood manufacturer thinking in the installation manual? The IKEA wall cabinets are not any less deep than others, so there should be enough space for the hinge. My Bosch flat canopy hood becomes correspondingly narrower after a few centimeters.
I don’t understand what the new pot drill hole in the door is supposed to achieve if the entire hood is as deep as the cabinet.
