Hello everyone,

we would like to have a masonry fireplace that operates independently of the indoor air (Kfw 70 house). It would heat the ground floor (65m² (700 sq ft) living/dining/kitchen area). However, I think it would only be used on weekends, to be realistic. Since we are still in the planning phase, we are not yet sure whether we want to install an internal chimney flue or an external pipe.

What are the advantages and disadvantages? Also regarding cost, does anyone have experience with this?

Apart from that, we are still unsure where to place it. Either in a corner without windows next to the media wall and TV, or as a small room divider between the dining and living areas (which would require an internal chimney flue). Are there any important factors to consider when choosing the location?

Thank you very much for your help
