Hello everyone,
I currently have my parking area for two cars covered with gravel (8-11 mm) and now want to pave the area because the loose gravel annoys me. Every morning, when I drive the car, I end up spreading a load of gravel that sticks to the tires onto the driveway paving.
However, to avoid sealing the surface completely, I am considering grass pavers (60x40x8 cm (24x16x3 inches)) or similar products like the Berding Beton Mammut grass grid. I would then fill the cavities with gravel, so the gravel would be fixed, the surface would be stable enough to drive on, and rainwater could still infiltrate. Of course, I would keep the existing stormwater drainage in place.
Has anyone here combined gravel and grass pavers before? What are your experiences with this?

This won’t solve anything... Grass pavers are more suitable for commercial parking lots. It will always end up with the gravel/soil/grass being driven out...

Well, then I’ll suggest a wild idea: instead of using very fine gravel, use coarser gravel and moisten it lightly with an adhesive before laying it down. As a result – although I lack a basis for durability estimates – I would expect the following: after filling, the adhesive bridges at the contact points would harden, stabilizing the "macrostructure" within each grass paver cell, thereby significantly reducing material loss. The coarse structure would also leave plenty of gaps for water infiltration. Of course, the adhesive would need to be stable and non-water-soluble to avoid contaminating runoff precipitation. Maybe a topic for a science competition / MMM

Ypg has already suggested using larger stones.

But definitely not with full adhesive bonding [emoji12]
