I have had a self-assembled Ikea box spring bed for a week. The base is an Evenskjer, 1.80 meters (5 feet 11 inches) wide. On top of that is a Hövåg innerspring mattress. I sleep very well on it. Box spring beds are usually much more expensive, so should I be concerned about the quality? Does anyone have longer-term experience? Does a Tjömde topper improve the sleeping comfort?

Eventually it will just get worn out... but well, that’s how it is.
However, I would have handled it differently. Buy individual mattresses and simply cover them with a large mattress topper. That’s more “American,” and if something gets worn out, you only have to replace the mattress.
