ᐅ Experience with fiber cement boards for exterior cladding?

First of all, our house planning hasn’t really started yet; we are still in the brainstorming phase.

I’m currently interested in exterior cladding with fiber cement panels. Not the old-fashioned shingles, but a modern design with relatively large panels. When you search online, you find visually appealing modern colors.

Does anyone have experience with the typical costs for this? Or are there special requirements that need to be met to install them?
We are planning to build a timber frame house anyway, so the builder could simply install battens on the outside instead of applying render/plaster…

As I said, our project is not yet concrete, but I would appreciate your general impressions or opinions about these panels.
