Hello!

Does anyone know about especially durable reversible inserts in the size 14x14x2 cm (5.5x5.5x0.8 inches)?
The reason is: we joint the plastic-coated particle boards with a spiral jointing cutter on the table router before edge banding, and the problem with the standard reversible inserts is that after a few meters the "chipping" starts again!
I talked to my sharpening service about this, and they told me there are "electrocorundum" or similar reversible inserts that have a longer service life!?

Does anyone know where I can get them and if they are any good!?

How do you usually handle this?

I have brought this topic up again.

However, my knowledge on the subject is limited, but I believe that a spiral groove cutter is not well suited for this. These chipboard panels increasingly contain foreign objects, which makes machining more and more difficult.

As a hobbyist, I am naturally curious to learn about that as well. That's correct, a spiral groove cutter is not suitable for this purpose. I have heard a bit about fused aluminum oxide, which is made of a hard material. I use it for sharpening my chainsaw. It works well for me.

Although I have no personal experience and have only read about it, you need router bits with arrow-shaped inserts for that. These are solid carbide-tipped cutters.

That’s interesting what Nicole wrote in 1988. Now the question for me is where I can get such a solid carbide router bit. Our sharpening service doesn’t have anything like that.
