Hello,
I would like to ask if anyone has experience with a QNG 40 house featuring a 4 kWp photovoltaic system, a 5 kW battery storage, and a heat pump? My question is how much additional electricity needs to be purchased. It is a household of four people. Or what your annual electricity bill is? The house is a KfW 40 QNG or something similar.
The home seller says we would have to pay about 100 euros (around 110 USD) extra per month for electricity. That seems a bit low to me, especially in winter.
We use electricity for household consumption, hot water, and heating for four people, and possibly an electric car as well.
Thank you.

1. I’m about 98% sure that the bill is incorrect or you are managing with 16°C (61°F) room temperature and heating through your neighbors (aka freeloading).
2. No one can answer that question for you. Only you know how hot, often, and how long you shower or bathe.

For point 2, there are datasheets from shower manufacturers. With a bit of googling, you can figure out how much energy you need to heat the water to your desired temperature. Using a coefficient of performance (COP) of 3, you can calculate the electricity consumption.

Hello OWLer,
thank you very much.
I have now also sent the 2021 bill. But 2021 looks similar as well.
We live on the ground floor, and below us is just the basement.
There is no one next to us either, only above. Maybe the neighbor upstairs is heating for us as well.

I think that’s unrealistic. Underfloor heating has insulation beneath the screed. Of course, not as much as in modern building envelopes, but definitely enough to prevent it from easily heating your home. Either way... in a detached house, you will have significantly higher heating costs.
