Hello everyone,

Our house is now 8 years old. Since last year, sparrows have been nesting under our roof. At the beginning of this year, we installed a plastic eaves comb strip. For a while, that seemed to keep things under control. However, for the past few weeks, I have noticed broken tines regularly appearing on our terrace. At first, I thought they might have come from the installation, with broken tines being blown out of the gutter by the wind. But now there are about 25 pieces, and that doesn’t seem possible anymore. Every two days, one or two more show up. Has anyone here experienced something similar? What could be causing this? Could it possibly be a marten climbing the downpipes to get into the gutter? I find it hard to believe that the sparrows are damaging the eaves comb.

You would probably notice a marten by its smell. They have a very strong odor. I can imagine that the birds might peck through the plastic.
