ᐅ Drainage channel with or without a catch basin?

I want to install a drainage channel with a slope in front of the garage door in our driveway (new build). I have chosen the ACO Drain system, 5 meters (16 feet) long. That part is clear.

I’m just unsure whether to include a catch basin or not. The purpose is clear—to prevent leaves and mud from entering.

But isn’t such a basin somewhat oversized for a private driveway? I do plan to wash our cars there, but how much mud would realistically accumulate?

I’m looking for practical experience to help make a decision.

Thank you.

This is regulated by the respective municipalities through their wastewater utilities and connection requirements. Whether discharge is allowed, what may be discharged, and the associated costs are determined there.

Slope towards the garage, quite steep actually. So a channel drain definitely makes sense given the amount of rain these days. The question is whether to use it with or without a catch basin. The latter isn't exactly cheap from ACO, so that's why I'm asking.
So the question wasn’t answered, right? I’d like to know as well.

Where does the gutter lead to? Rainwater mainly washes sand and other debris into the gutter. You will need to clean it somehow; otherwise, the drainage will soon become blocked. The simplest solution is to use catch basins. Dirt collects there either in the insert or at the bottom, as the outlet is slightly elevated above the ground. I installed exactly these because the drainage leads to an infiltration system, and after connecting the gutter, I no longer have any way to clean it. Installed 9 months ago, and it already contains a lot of joint sand and other debris.
