Hello everyone,

As the topic suggests, I would like to know if the Tromsö underbed storage (which is actually designed for the Tromsö daybed or bunk bed) also fits under a different bunk bed, namely the Norddal or Mydal bunk bed.

The Tromsö underbed storage is 20 cm (8 inches) high, and since the drawers available for the Norddal bunk bed are also 20 cm (8 inches) high, it should fit. However, I wanted to ask here before measuring myself at the furniture store (the online dimensions only show the overall height/width/depth, not the exact inside clearance between the bedposts).

Maybe someone already knows the answer.

Thank you in advance!

No, the Tromsö does not fit under the Norddal bunk bed.

Hello Balto
Can you tell me why the Norddal bunk bed doesn’t fit?
When I look at the height/width/length, it seems like it should work, right?
Underbed: H 20 cm (8 inches) / L 197 cm (77 inches) / W 93 cm (37.5 inches)
Norddal bunk bed L 207.5 cm (82 inches) / W 95.5 cm (38 inches) – The clearance between the floor and the lower bed of the bunk bed is also at least 20 cm (8 inches) (with the Norddal bunk bed, there are storage boxes available which are also 20 cm (8 inches) high and fit underneath).
I was at IKEA yesterday, but since they unfortunately don’t have the Norddal bunk bed on display, I couldn’t try to see if it fits or not.
If you mean that the two items don’t visually match well, then you’re right: a white metal underbed and a black wooden bunk bed.

Hi!

The height is actually not a problem; it's the width. The Norddal only has just under 2 meters (6 feet 6 inches) of clearance because of the wide legs. But the underbed requires slightly over 2 meters (6 feet 7 inches). I measured it carefully in the store the day before yesterday. The only option would be to slide it in at an angle, but then you would have to be careful when pulling it out to avoid scratching the legs.

Hello Balto
Thank you! Great that you took the time to measure it yourself (as I mentioned, the Norddal bunk bed is not displayed in the showroom here, so I couldn’t measure it myself).
