Hello,

The floor plan and related details are finalized and approved. Soon, the final selection of the builder (timber frame construction) will take place. Now the topic of lighting is current. Opinions seem to be divided on whether professional lighting design is necessary for a single-family house, or if researching and planning it yourself would be sufficient. I am still undecided, and ultimately the price will probably be the deciding factor.

But back to the question: Has anyone had good experiences with a lighting designer/planner? If so, which one was it? It would be convenient if this could be done online. Sending plans, having Zoom calls to clarify needs, and then getting an overview of what is possible (e.g., stair lighting, indirect lighting options, etc.) and/or recommendations tailored to the rooms.

Thank you very much for your recommendations.

I even know a very good home automation planner (not lighting-specific), but offline (so a professional, not software).

Tried two "lighting consultants," but neither was satisfactory; they just carelessly placed the same spots everywhere and added a light here and there. In the end, I planned it myself – although it requires some time investment...

Were these people or online software tools that you tried?

And how / with what did you plan then?

I’m guessing DIALux, that already allows for a lot.
