I just found out by chance from the seller of our reserved plot that a cross foundation is apparently necessary. Online, I have only ever seen this mentioned in connection with pile foundations. This worries me a bit because it means extra costs (which were included as a buffer, but we had hoped not to need it). Can you tell me if a pile foundation is then required or not, and what additional costs I might expect?

Thank you

Where are you building? Swamp or Elbe?
Who is the seller?

We are located far from any swamp (as far as I know) and from the Elbe River.
The plot is in Lauenbrück.
There was already an interested party for our (reserved) plot who wanted to combine two plots and had a soil survey conducted. The survey apparently indicated that a cross foundation would be necessary. However, he does not know the details.
I will probably have a survey carried out in the next few weeks. Does anyone know approximately how much something like this costs?

So, since an expert report was already prepared by another interested party, I now know which type of foundation is recommended. It is a cross-beam foundation. Can you tell me more about this type of foundation?

Google probably knows a lot about that. 🙂
As far as I know, it’s a pile foundation – not exactly cheap. 20,000?
Or just call a civil engineer specializing in deep foundations; they can give you a better estimate.
