Hello everyone!
We bought a turnkey house in 1999 and – like most others, I guess – installed a water filter before the pressure reducer. A friend told me this doesn’t make sense and can actually become a breeding ground for bacteria over time. Plus, the filter needs to be replaced regularly, which adds to the costs. Since then, we have removed the filter cartridge and haven’t had any problems.
After all these years, the pressure reducer has now failed, so I need to have it replaced. While I’m at it, I’m wondering again: should I install a filter this time or is it really unnecessary?
What are your thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Matthias
