Another long-standing project is finally finished. Using the wood from six slatted bed bases (each with 23 beech slats), 18 threaded rods, over 400 spacer sleeves, and plenty of hard work, we built a stylish radiator cover. The first picture shows my design using Sweet Home 3D… the others show before and after.

Wow! That looks really good. Tell us exactly how you did it. Apparently, you have the right tools at home. 😀

The most important tools were a miter saw and a drill press. We cut everything to length using the miter saw. Then we made a template strip with the correct hole spacing. Using this, we marked the exact same hole positions on all 138 strips. We lightly center-punched each mark and then drilled them with the drill press. For the M6 threaded rods, we drilled 7mm (about 0.28 inches) holes (over 400 holes… phew…). Everything was deburred a bit afterwards. For the threaded rods, we made small round wooden feet. They needed to be exactly 10mm (0.4 inches) high to maintain the distance from the floor. We actually found exactly these in an old craft box. Using a 10mm (0.4 inches) wood drill bit, we drilled a hole halfway through and then hammered in an M6 nut... voilà… perfect! The black plastic spacers (H15 x W12 x M6) are used to ensure the correct distance between the wooden slats. They are discreet and unobtrusive. Now for the tedious work again… threading everything onto the rods… wood strip - spacer - wood strip - spacer... The entire construction leans against wooden slats that we screw onto the columns.. held in place by magnets or hook-and-loop tape. We still need to complete the last step.

In between, some spacing adjustments with Jenga blocks 😉

Absolutely excellent! Now you really deserve some relaxation: how far apart are the pool from @rick2018 and the sauna from @matte1987? 🙂
