Hi everyone,

As our building plans are currently with the approval authority, we are in the process of clearing out the existing house (which will be demolished) and disposing of all the items. Now I’m facing a “disposal puzzle.” We found several different bags of fertilizer. Some are only about a quarter full, while another is a full 50 kg (110 lb) sack. Unfortunately, it’s no longer clear what exactly they all were. Most of the contents have also become very hard, and many look like lime.

Since, as I said, we don’t know exactly what it is, the stuff needs to be disposed of. But how can I get rid of it? Where should I take it? An acquaintance suggested I give it to the demolition contractor. Would they really take it without an extra charge? Honestly, I can’t imagine that.

I’m grateful for any disposal tips.

Best regards, Andi

Fertilizer and similar materials can often be dropped off free of charge at the local building yard or construction center; they recycle and reuse it – just ask.
