Hello,

we are now ready and will soon start building the house. Today, the surveyor came for the rough staking. However, I noticed that the house is planned a bit too low. The foundation slab would be about 30 cm (12 inches) below the existing sewer line. Unfortunately, that’s how it is shown in the plans. Is it possible to raise the house a bit? We haven’t excavated yet.

Basically, you should build according to the approved plans. The reference heights are usually specified in the zoning plan (in our case, it was defined at what height the houses must be situated). If the sewer is at a higher level (in our case also because of a basement), there are lift stations (costing around 400€) that pump the wastewater upwards.
