ᐅ Designer Furniture: What are your experiences with leather furniture?

-Hello,
I have already asked this question in another forum and hope that maybe someone here might know something.
We are looking for nice leather furniture and have found several brands. The furniture pieces look quite similar and are very attractive, but their prices vary significantly. We would like to understand exactly what the differences are. A couch is quite an investment, and we simply wanted to hear about other people’s experiences.
Thank you in advance. 🙂

The differences lie in the quality of the materials used and the creativity of the companies. For example, DeSede and Rolf Benz develop their own designs and sometimes commission well-known designers; this originality comes at a cost.
Another, more affordable supplier offers sofas and armchairs that can be described as imitations—some pieces, especially the classics, are simply copied from the "premium" brands.
The construction of the leather furniture, the type of leather used, the tanning and dyeing process, the upholstery, the finishing of the steel components, the screws... all of this can be produced in a simple, "cheap" way—or more elaborately and expensively (and of course, more durable).

Hello Hertweck,
thank you for your reply. That clears up quite a few things.
Our budget would be sufficient to buy, for example, a Schillig model. We are a bit skeptical about the durability of the less expensive suppliers. And our piggy bank doesn’t quite cover a Rolf Benz. Is the price-performance ratio balanced with W. Schillig? Maybe we could already narrow down the choices there...
Our couch is not falling apart yet, but soon we will need something new. 😀

W.Schillig is considered high-quality but relatively expensive, and based on what I’ve heard, they are worth the money. Unfortunately, I have no personal experience with them.
