The installation of a water softening system in condominium ownership apparently isn’t so straightforward because of a very old precedent case from the Uster District Court, if you believe what you read online... Is that still considered standard practice today? Nowadays, an ion exchange system isn’t really a luxury anymore, is it?

I think this still makes sense but only for a certain water hardness (from 3.8 mmol/l or approximately 30°dH). The BG ruling from Uster is clear. However, nowadays these are no longer technically necessary.

I believe these water softening systems belong to the past. Nowadays, the company Hydron-Cyclon AG from Luterbach is very active in this market. Their systems are environmentally friendly.

That is correct, and I can confirm it. Their systems are really effective at preventing the formation of limescale. They also stop corrosion with their methods, which is generally a major issue.

The owners simply do not get along and are making life quite difficult. The water softening systems are classified as a luxury, which I don’t quite understand. Or some want to have the entire cake to themselves. The system is such that all owners must agree to the construction measures. This agreement must even be unanimous.

Sometimes dealing with these people is not easy. But the issue with the water softener system is nothing new. There are often differing opinions on this matter.
