We had our old building renovated, which involved demolishing both an external facade (wood) and several interior walls (brick). I understand that for billing purposes, openings up to 2.5 m² (27 ft²) are measured with an allowance. What I’m not clear about is: how is an opening defined in this context? Does it need to be enclosed by a wall or facade on all sides, or is a door opening also considered an opening? After all, it is open at the bottom and not framed all around like a window.

I would really appreciate a response—perhaps even with a copy of the relevant passage from the VOB!

I do not have a source, but a door is also an opening.
