ᐅ Installing laminate flooring over linoleum?

Good evening

After 23 years, my rental apartment was renovated: the walls were painted and the carpets were removed! The carpet in the bedroom was replaced with laminate flooring, and in the kitchen, hallway, entrance, and stairs with green Marmorette linoleum.

This linoleum is now causing me headaches! It was such a shock when I saw it because, unfortunately, I was not consulted about the color choice. I find the color unacceptable and it does not fit the house. Keep in mind that this is a wooden apartment; some rooms have dark brown wood paneling, and the kitchen is made of light brown wood.

Is there a way to cover this linoleum with laminate flooring? Or do you have any other ideas on what I can do?

I am completely upset and confused.

Thank you very much for your advice

Best regards

When renting an apartment, tenants often have a disadvantage and are not in control. I can understand that the tenant feels uncertain, but without the landlord’s consent, nothing will move forward here.

Here, I also believe that a tenant cannot take any action. The landlord always needs to be involved. Otherwise, it could lead to major problems.

Without the landlord’s approval, you cannot make any changes here. If you do so anyway, it may cause problems after you move out. The landlord can demand that you restore the property to its original condition. This can become quite costly.
