ᐅ Costs of a Geothermal Borehole – Is It Worth It in Our Case?

Hello,
I have received a quote for a geothermal drilling. About €21,000 for 260 drilling meters (2 x 130 m (430 feet), water protection area, so the use of antifreeze is not possible), heating load around 8 kW.
Can someone tell me how this quote compares price-wise?
Or whether it is even worth pursuing geothermal energy further?
It seems quite expensive to me, especially when I read that some have paid only €6,000.
Best regards and thanks
Steffen

I visited my trusted heating engineer yesterday, and he said that with the current price, deep drilling for a geothermal system is out of the question. We will probably switch to a horizontal ground collector. The additional costs compared to an air-to-water heat pump are estimated to be around 4-5k. However, the heat pump used with the ground collector is somewhat cheaper than the air-to-water heat pump itself. When factoring in the BAFA subsidy, it will likely be more cost-effective overall than an air-to-water heat pump. He mentioned that he has installed ground collectors with an annual performance factor of 5.5. Achieving that would, of course, be fantastic.

According to our heating engineer, it is not possible to receive the subsidy with an air-to-water heat pump even with good systems in a single-family home. I also did some calculations online and it certainly seems impossible in southern Germany. Maybe in the north, since different outdoor temperatures can be assumed there. We recently just received the BAFA subsidy for our air-to-water heat pump.

We recently received funding from BAFA for our air-to-water heat pump.Which air-to-water heat pump do you have? When was the house built? Is this innovation funding for new construction?
