Hello,

I have insulated a room internally with wood fiber insulation boards. Now, a thick-layer coating with a 7mm (0.28 inches) clay base plaster and a 3mm (0.12 inches) clay finish plaster as the final layer is planned. Reinforcing mesh will be embedded into the base plaster.

I am uncertain about the corner beads. I’m supposed to use mesh corner beads with a nose (edge) bead. The total plaster thickness is about 1cm (0.4 inches).

Should I use mesh corner beads with a 10mm (0.4 inches) nose bead and apply them directly onto the wood fiber boards before filling? That should give me approximately 1cm (0.4 inches) plaster thickness. But don’t I need some material beneath the mesh as well?

The field mesh is embedded in the upper third of the base plaster. If I apply corner beads with a 10mm (0.4 inches) nose bead similarly within the plaster, the nose would project about 5mm (0.2 inches) further out, resulting in about 1.5cm (0.6 inches) plaster thickness at the corners. In that case, would it be better to use a corner bead with only a 6mm (0.24 inches) nose bead?

Or would it be better to use mesh corner beads with only a 3mm (0.12 inches) nose bead, incorporating them first into the finish plaster?

Another option might be to use mesh corner beads without a nose bead for the base plaster and a separate one for the finish plaster.

Or am I overcomplicating this? What would you suggest?

Best regards
