fire00Hello, proud home builders.
How did you approach the search for your dream home and the right construction company?
We have looked at what feels like hundreds of prefab homes and dozens of builders. Yes, we do have a certain style in mind and specific criteria for the builder.
However, so far we haven’t had that moment where we felt certain we found "the house."
I mean, several companies have multiple beautiful homes that we like, but we just can’t fully decide.
And what if we prefer one company but like a house from another company, or vice versa?
What kind of thinking mistake am I making?
I’m really looking forward to open opinions.
Cheers, Josef

Hello Josef,
It depends on your priorities 🙂
Basically, you should have trust in the construction company. A house can and should still be customizable according to personal preferences.
But I’m speaking from experience: we also looked specifically for THE house and then checked out the company that builds our chosen house type (since a staggered shed roof is our favorite, it wasn’t that easy).
If you prefer a house design that is not built by every company, you will have to adapt more to the construction company and accept or get used to their building methods.
With a standard gable roof house, almost everything can be changed individually—whether partially clad with wood or brick, window arrangements and colors, floor plan... bay windows and dormers...
If there are too many limitations, you should consider whether the construction company is really a good fit. Options and choices should always be available, and at least size adjustments should be possible based on the basic grid.
Best regards,
Yvonne
