Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out today with an issue that falls under the responsibility of our local city/municipality. We have a problem in our development area where a sewage lifting station is installed. Our property is the lowest plot and also has a basement. For some time now, the (almost new – about 3 years old) lifting system has been failing repeatedly. Naturally, we are the first to be affected by any backflow. Fortunately, we have a backflow prevention valve. However, this issue is very frustrating for us because after a backflow event, the valve usually doesn’t close properly and has to be disassembled and cleaned. When this happens every 1 to 2 weeks, it really becomes unbearable in the long run. The funny thing is that I have to report the backflow myself because the municipality apparently isn’t aware of it – it seems the error reporting system is also unreliable.

My questions for you:
- Does anyone have experience with this or the same problem?
- If the city refuses to act, what options do I have here?

Best regards,
