Hello everyone,

What do you think about concealed window hardware (corner and friction hinges)? Is the additional cost (about 1,500 € for the whole house) worth it?

Is it purely an aesthetic choice, or could concealed hardware also have technical disadvantages?

Best regards,
Oliver

Hello Oliver,
it is mainly – but not only – a matter of appearance. Besides the visual aspect, you should also consider:
- The window sash can only open about 90–95° (degrees). This is sufficient in most cases, but still... it might be an issue.
- For some hardware manufacturers, the adjustment range of concealed tilt-and-turn fittings is very limited or not available at all.
- Because the fittings are completely within the rebate, no sealing level is interrupted. This is a great advantage.
- With the hardware installed inside, you naturally get more space on the sides, for example for tiles (in older buildings). This often helps.
May I ask which manufacturer you are using (window and hardware)?
Regards, Peter
