Hello everyone!

I have had a sunshade from sunliner for two years, which wasn’t exactly cheap. However, it has now developed mildew spots because I stored it incorrectly. The birds didn’t help either. As you can imagine, the fabric no longer looks good. I’m planning to clean it and have already looked online. I found two possible methods:

1) Oven cleaner spray
2) Soaking overnight in a bucket of water with denture cleaning tablets

My question is: Has anyone tried this before? I’d rather not damage the fabric if it doesn’t work or goes wrong. I don’t want to buy a new one right away.

If you have other suggestions, please share! I want to thank you in advance for any help.

Best regards

Last summer, I bought sun umbrellas for the first time, and since one of them was so nice, I got a bright yellow one as well. 😀

That was a mistake! Every mosquito in the area was attracted to it. 😱

I used clear water and microfiber cloths from Aldi. It works great.
For mold stains, I would try vinegar water and a microfiber cloth.
Cleaning tablets help with dirty water tanks and pipelines in caravans. I wouldn’t use them on fabric.
Oven cleaner spray... sounds like nonsense.

There’s also Vanish. I manage to remove rust stains from work pants with it.
In supermarkets or drugstores, you can also find mold stain removers by Dr. Beckmann.

Good luck, and let me know if it worked. 🙂

Pre-treat with vinegar and then add baking soda to the washing machine. This only works if the mold stains have not penetrated into the material—that is, if they are still just on the surface. If the mold has deeply affected the material, you should buy a new cover or sew one yourself; anything else would really be a waste of time 😉
