Hello everyone!

We are currently gathering information because we would like to build a house. Among other things, we are looking into timber frame construction with blown-in cellulose insulation. We have already had a conversation with a timber construction company that uses this method and also with a civil engineer who used to be a site manager at Griffner and is now self-employed with his own planning office. However, this gentleman mostly builds with solid (massive) construction. He somewhat advised against the cellulose blowing technique because he said the material would settle and require topping up later. He suggested it might be better to use pressed insulation boards that are fixed in place at the factory (I’m not sure if I understood that correctly).

Today we met an acquaintance who works for a company that installs blown-in cellulose insulation. He said that what the engineer said was complete nonsense and that the cellulose does not settle.

Has anyone here had experience with cellulose insulation and would like to share?

Actually, the engineer made a really good impression on us, and we seriously considered hiring him. And now this?

Best regards to all
