Hey,

has anyone here possibly done this before?

This morning I thought about buying tiles abroad. I’m not far from the Czech Republic. While browsing online, I found a tile supplier in Teplice. So I went there to check out the store. They have a showroom, and it wasn’t bad at all.

Does anyone have experience with this? Is it a viable option? I mean, fences, windows, and carports come from Poland. Why not tiles from abroad as well? Also, there are tiles here from Italy, Spain, or other countries anyway.

Looking forward to your feedback.

@HilfeHilfe Yes, the price certainly has a positive impact as well.

We chose the tiles ourselves at the time and received the numbers on a slip of paper, which we then gave to the construction company or the tiler. After that, everything was magically completed. This doesn’t work if you buy the tiles independently. You have to convince the tiler to install tiles that you bought yourself (who is liable for material defects? Who pays for fitting and removal?). You also have to handle the transportation and explain this to the bank.

I would seriously question whether you really save any money by doing this.

That depends on the construction supervisor. Ours said, get the tiles wherever you want. We will tell you the price limit. They can cost up to 25€ net (about $27) per square meter (10.76 square feet). If you buy from Fliesenharry in Lübeck, you can use our customer number and receive a 10% discount.

If you want to lay the tiles yourself, I would buy them there if the price is right. Why not.
