Hello,
I am planning to install a new kitchen soon. It will be from the Metod range.

The spatial situation is a bit complicated. Besides the “main wall,” where all the “smaller” appliances (maximum 80cm (31.5 inches) high) like the dishwasher, cooktop, sink, etc. are supposed to go, there is another wall to the right where I want to place the larger cabinets (fridge, built-in oven, etc.). Now, this right wall is interrupted about 177cm (70 inches) from the rear corner by a rectangular “pillar” measuring 80-82cm (31.5-32 inches) wide and 29cm (11.5 inches) deep.

My idea was to work with standard base cabinets (including a corner cabinet) up to this obstacle. The larger cabinets would then be positioned after this pillar. On the other hand, a continuous front line would look nicer somehow.

So, my question is: what would you advise? Is there a way to create a continuous front line? I would like to use the dark carcasses and was thinking whether it might be possible to cut off the rear part of the 40cm (16 inches) deep units and still somehow use them. Alternatively, would using products or shelves from other systems (like Billy, for example) be an option? However, I am not sure if the colors would match and whether it would be possible to attach 40cm (16 inches) wide doors from the Ringhult series to them!?

I am open to any suggestions. To illustrate the situation, I have attached a photo of the relevant problematic side.

Thank you in advance..

Hello,

You can shorten the cabinet carcass, but you definitely need to reposition the holes for the cabinet connectors (cam locks and wooden dowels) as well as, if desired, the rows of holes for the (also to be shortened) shelves.

It would be simpler to leave the 37 cm (15 inches) deep base cabinets as they are and align them flush with the rear panel's projection. Then position the base cabinets with 60 cm (24 inches) depth further forward to create an even front, and install an oversized countertop (Personlig or from the hardware store) on top.
